It will not work if the raw filw is PEF format. try shooting DNG and it should. Adobe will not support the newer Pentax cameras on the older software

CS2 will accept PEF RAW. I always thought that whatever you can do in previous versions of P.Shop, you could do in newer ones as well.

Earlier cameras sure - I had CS3, and ACR 4 could open K10D PEFs, but not K-5 ones.

It's the new version of ACR (that can read the newer PEFs) that old versions of CS can't use.

I was obviously mistaken then into thinking that all PEF files are the same. But why are they different? Surely it would make sense to make them all the same.
But having said that camera manufacturers don't seem to use sense do they! I should have realised that. (Stupid Boy)

I would sooooooo love to get some Pentax senior technical guys in a room, fill them full of truth serum, and get to the truth about all the mad things they do and don't do.

Is it not just a case of putting the same basic RAW software into every camera? Or is that too simplistic, or am I again being stupid.(feel free to express your feelings on that one).

Just tried a raw file from k5 and k7 in CS3 and it wont work says does not recognise file?? But it does see a jpeg and works fine just can’t get it to see raw?? As any one had this before if so how did they fix it or did they use some other program?
it also says
COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE RIGHT KIND OF DOCUMENT ???????
please can some one help
