If my memory serves me correctly Darlene, the first plane is a PBY Catalina variant, called Canso. It's used as a water bomber on forest fires.
The second looks like a Lockheed Super Electra, which was called the Hudson by the RAF. A bit of research here reveals that the US military version was called the Lodestar.
Hope that's of interest.

This plane is found North Atlantic Aviation Museum NL Canada.
This aircraft here is identical to the one that made the frist flight crossing the Atlantic.... Left Gander Newfoundland Nov.10 1940 and landed at Aldergrove Ireland
