PING - Admin: embedding images from Pbase in threads

Hi John / Admin Team,

I am experiencing some difficulties in embedding links and images into threads (in the Your Photos forum here at present).

I started a thread titled 'Gold Mining Relics' in that forum, and if you follow that through, you will see what I mean - one image 'sticks' to the message, and is visible, the other images in the same message thread (from the same processing batch, and the same gallery at PBase) do not. Other members here have been assisting (thank you gents) and we cannot seem to crack the nut as it were.

Ditto another thread in the Your Photos Forum, to which I wished to contribute an image. I could not embed it, and tried to link to it instead. Another member reports he cannot access that photo via the link (gets an Access Forbidden message). The thread in question is called 'New type of snow flower'. Again, if you were to follow it to my post, you will see what's occurred.

You will also see that there is some inconsistency as to what has been happening - images in my posts here disappear and reappear with little rhyme or reason.

I have checked those settings available to me as a pbase account holder (it is a paid account, not a trial one). All settings available to me are benign, and are not such that they would lead to a denial of access to the members here.

The galleries within my Pbase account from which I have sought to link and embed are not password protected.

I'd be pleased if you were to consider any solution that might be available? Thanks in advance.

Photobucket is free and works without a hitch, so that's what I'd suggest as the easiest option.
Best regards, John

I totally agree with John, Picasa is a bit of a pain.

The problem in this case is with PBase links rather than Picasa. The URLs in question work on their own, but not when embedded in a message. The forum can't seem to deal with them.

It's a shame for anyone to have to move their images just so they can make them appear here. The forum should really be fixed instead.

I'm not 100% conivinced it is the fault of this forum. Web servers have a "no cache" option you can set in the configuration file, which might be something to do with what's happening here.

Why are some PBase images OK here, and some others not?

And why should that be a problem on the pentaxforum instead of PBase?
They can both be at fault but how do you explain that the forum does work perfectly with other sites?

Since it's only PBase it's more logical to assume that fault is with them.

If my browser can show the image when I type the URL into the address bar, why does it not show when it is embedded in this forum (with IMG tags)?

I think this is a pbase problem. The html is clean, the text is correct, the pics simply aren't loaded. Strange.

Actually, googling "pbase images no loading" is quite an eye-opener.....

Well these are from your comment.

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /g3/78/932378/2/120772595.ArKCmmCh.jpg on this server.

So basicly PBase are disallowing you to use it, or did pentaxuser forbid it?

Sorry I'm a bit sharp now, to tired to make a whole story around it, so take it lightly.

Hmm interesting. I haven't seen that error message yet (your link is working at the moment), but fubar-ed permissions over at pbase would explain this non-loading image problem very nicely.

Tim, I get the same message with all the photos I open from here.
Simply do right click on the image error here on this page and say open file/image or something down that line.
