Hi, does anyone know where I could get hold of a pincette (i.e. tweezers) for the removal of a Pentax focusing screen. I have found one here...

But there are out of stock and it's the USA site, I have not found any on the English pentax site.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I just used a pair of flat-jawed plastic tweezers, they grabbed the little tab well enough and didn't do any damage.

If you are careful to grab just the tab, a pair of ordinary metal tweezers work fine.

Gave my screen a clean the other day, for the first time. Just used some ordinary metal tweezers and a blower.
Because you don't use the tab optically, so long as you only grip the tab you can't do any harm.

If you are nervous about scratching the actual screen, then wrap some sticky plaster around the tweezer points.

Thanks, now my next question is, in which direction do you pull this tab? Or what is the correct procedure for doing this, I don't really intent to remove the focusing screen, I just need to flip it down in order to give it a blow with my rocket blower to clear the small amount of dust I have on it.

If you just flip it down and blow, you can send some of the dust up in the pentaprism/pentamirror. Once there, it is next to impossible to remove. You should remove the screen from the camera before you do the "blow job".

Or, if you have read my thread OMG - they hit the floor, you will see another method that not only removes the screen but the dust as well not recommended but effective.

Thanks for that!! And no that isn't the way I would want to do it!

What I'm really enquiring about is how you release the latch, where exactly do you clasp the latch and in which direction do you pull it to release it?

In the middle and down, well that is what I did and I expect to be told now that was not the way. Mind you it may change from body to body, the one I operated on was the K20

Thanks Thordell, I have the K-x, so hopefully it's the same procedure.
