There seems to be lots of user photos of flowers and insects on this forum.
Now don't get me wrong, but IMHO this doesn't take much effort or imagination,
Simply bang your DSLR into AE mode, pop on a fancy/expensive lens and set to max aperture.
All resulting images will look impressive due to:
a} Quality of gear used £££££
b) Shallow DOF
It's a bit of a cheap thrill really for not a lot of skill.
But as I said at the start this is just my opinion (but I am sure there are others who share my view).
Firstly, I am quite happy for anyone to have their own opinion. My opinion is, I don't like landscape photography. In fact I find shooting landscapes quite boring. However, I would never say that landscape photography is easy, and that surely all you do is point and click. See Pentax Expert, that's where you got personal. To say that it doesn't involve a lot of skill is just a naive observation (that is if you've ever observed someone taking macro shots of flowers/insects).There seems to be lots of user photos of flowers and insects on this forum.

I am extremely offended by your original post. I am a flower/garden photographer, and strive to compose original, imaginative shots, and it's no quick "point and click" job by any means!
Just because a genre of photography isn't for you, there's no need to make out it takes no imagination or skill. I do not own expensive kit, as the resulting image is down to the individual, not the camera or lens. ALL photography of any subject takes skill, as you have so kindly demonstrated in the Photos section of this forum.
My tip is, have a opinion, don't make it personal, and know what you're talking about before you start typing. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Keith I have demonstrated my ability to produce artistic/creative images in another trhread.
I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that I was in second place for quite a long time in the most recent fortnightly competition.

and the dying flowers, like I said earlier, get a fancy macro lens (not no 'e' in lens), a fancy K something camera, bang it into AP and click away. Seriously a 5 minute job. Creating texture??? pah

Lol... 'Inciteful' - surely not an accidental slip of the tongue! I offer inciteful and valuable observations which I think you can take something from.

What sort of photography, exactly, are you impressed by? As far as I can tell you can take a photograph of anything with 'a fancy lens' 'bang it into AV' and 'bosh, job's a good un'. According to your logic that is!
