Pictures of flowers and insects
There seems to be lots of user photos of flowers and insects on this forum.
Now don't get me wrong, but IMHO this doesn't take much effort or imagination,
Simply bang your DSLR into AE mode, pop on a fancy/expensive lens and set to max aperture.
All resulting images will look impressive due to:
a} Quality of gear used £££££
b) Shallow DOF
It's a bit of a cheap thrill really for not a lot of skill.
But as I said at the start this is just my opinion (but I am sure there are others who share my view).
Anyone who has seen the work of Lord V. (and all the other top macro shooters mentioned in a thread recently) knows this is an inane statement *pentaxexpert sets the hook and bends into the fish*
This (one of my better macros) of course was all due to the lense and shallow DoF and had sod all to do with stalking / angles / light / patience / imagination and execution :
Nikon. D800. D600. Sigma 500/4.5, Nikon 300/2.8 VRII, Sigma 120-300/2.8, Zeiss Distagon ZF2 21/2.8, Zeiss Distagon ZF2 35/2.0, Sigma 50/1.4, Nikkor 85/1.8, Nikon TC20EIII, Nikon TC14EII, Kenko x1.4, Sigma 2.0
If you don't like photos of flowers and insects on this forum. I would hate to think what you would make of my collection of belly button photo's
I would be very interested in seeing this.
But no 'outies'. They're not right.

I'm not really into flower pictures but don't mind insect pictures but neither genres are something that I would get a thrill out of photographing. But I do appreciate good examples of insect pics when I see them ( as long as they are not ruined by dayglo colouring/HDR ) as I can understand it takes a lot of preperation.

Someone once told me it was the best slug macro they'd ever seen!
Me - I take my hat off to the guys who can take macros of insects and flowers - I certainly can't do it .

A statement like that doesn't warrant a reply!

It was at the Lakes meet a couple of years ago. Technoblurb was chasing bees and dragonflies. I thought I'd go for something easier!
As I recal you and Graham wandered off up that very steep looking hill and left us mere mortals to take the easy route.
Anyway my Macro from the day got into the PPG (its the Hoverfly)
