picture framing to hang on walls

I did a quick search to see if this topic has been discussed but can't find one mentioned about the specific aspects of image framings so decided to put it up here.

How do you usually hang your printed images on the walls? I have seen a wide variety of prices for Acrylic mounts ranging from simple clip frames for £3 and some more expensive type plexi glass costing £50 for A3 size prints.

What do you usually do when you want to display them on your walls? What do you usually prefer? Framed? Acrylic mounts, the cheaper clips etc?
I was looking for something that will look good on the living room but would want also to consider the fact that I might want to change the images once in a while and put some newer ones from time to time.

And what size do they come in? If I want to hang up A3+ prints do they go in the usual A3 size frames? I only see the A3 frame sizes on advertised on the web

Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

On the rare occasion were I produce something worthwhile I pop down to my local Ikea, they do wood veneer snap in frames from £10 upwards.

That's very helpful, Ikea is just around the corner from here, so I should pop down and get a couple of those.
I have no prints at all on my own walls and that's pretty embarrassing specially because friends who come to my place always manage to go back with a few of them printed because they have seen them on the webiste and I have nothing yet on my own walls .

Looking at the Ikea website am a bit lost with sizes of the frames. I want to hang A3 size prints and they have all in sizes like 30X40 and 40X50 etc, its so confusing. Considering the size of the A3+ images I have which are 330mm X 483mm I suppose I have to find the approximate match and calculate on the bigger size. Is this the correct way?

There are of course picture framers who will do you the job.

For DIY painless framing we mount our images on 20"x16" black board and buy the appropriate style of frame to put it in. The mounting on board is essential to ensure a flat picture. Cost of frames can be as little as a few pounds.

That sounds excellent John. The size seems perfect and the magic word there is "DIY painless" , where do you buy black board from?
So the frames have a plastic front to it and I presume they come in other different materials also isn't it?

The 40 x 50 frames are the inside measurement and they come with a pre cut photo mount. As John suggested I have mounted them on the backboard, this stops them slipping in the frame. I do have one correction to the post, they are actually wood and not wood veneer.

Black board is available from craft shops (they will cut it for you to the size required) and from Jessops in packs of 10, pre-cut.
