Photographing the 645N

Took my recently acquired 645N on it’s first outing today! The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens was a good setting. It’s good to take time to photograph; the 16 frames in 120 film and lack of a digital view encouraged me to use the tripod and compose shots carefully. Pity I didn’t keep my eye on the frame counter; I left the multi exposure switch on for the best shots eight shots which were are all taken in a single frame! And it took me a fretful half an hour to figure out why the counter would not register more than seven frames… doh!

Back in Oxford I visited Christchurch Meadow to make up for the lost shots, and there a nice thing happened. A photographer with a beautiful new K-30 stopped to chat, she of K1000 beginnings and laden with her older as well as new lenses. Intrigued with the 645N, she put on her old M 50, and photographed it. I don’t know if I will ever get a serious compliment for my photography, but at least someone likes my camera.

Thank you, whoever you are – that made my day.
