Hi Guys,

On the upload page of Photobucket there is a note:-

Quote:
Tip: Hold down CTRL to select multiple files
No matter what I do I can only ever upload 1 file at a time - am I missing something?

When you select the files you can use Shift and click on the first and last file in a sequence. If you use Ctrl and hold the key down you can select any number of files, whether they are in sequence or not.

Hi John,

That's what I expected to happen (just like the copy/paste function in windows explorer) but when I select a file - press/hold CTRL - move to another file select 2nd then 1st is unselected and so on. I finish up withjust one file - the last one selected.

A mystery then I'm afraid. It does work for me, so what is different I can't guess. I'm using Windows 7 and IE8 so maybe you could look at your system and browser and see if there's something there that's causing the problem?
Best regards, John

This is a Windows setting. What OS are you using and are you using a touchscreen?

Have you tried ctrl-click using your other ctrl key as an alternative, on the off-chance one of them is dead?

Also, does shift-click work?

My operating system is XP + IE8.
Bog Standard Desktop Tower PC + LCD screen

I can transfer files from one folder to another on my PC using either CTRL key.

Ctrl-Click
Shift-click
Alt-click
Shift+CTRL-click
Shift+Alt-click
Shift+Alt+CTRL-click
Ctrl+ALT-click

all produce the same negative result, but do as expected when moving/copying files on the PC

Bernard - just tried it and it didn't work for me either. Maybe the bulk uploader works, I haven't tried that. You need Java for it.

Edit: I can't even get the bulk uploader to work . Ah well.

I'm baffled. It may be that PB are not supporting XP properly any more?

I use W7 though. It seems to be a bug in Photobucket since there last update.
When and if I can raise the enthusiasm I shall send them a mail about it.

I use firefox and the upload progress disappears.
I just swap to Chrome to upload.
Lurking is shirking.!

I use Firefox and the upload progress disappears, and the ctrl multiple upload doesn't work either, not does the bulk uploader.

I don't have any other browser loaded, and don't really want to load another one, especially not Chrome.

Haha the plot thickens, at least I'm not alone.

I've sent an email to Photobucket technical help as it seems a bit daft to offer a "tip" which fails.

I'll keep you posted

Update .....

Photobucket unable to advise as the link does work correctly - therefore it's my PC

I've checked my sons PC and this works as expected.
Now here's the odd thing.... My PC is identical to his except I have 80GB drive (his 40GB). Both run XP and IE8 and Outlook Express 6

I've now discovered that adding more than file as an attachment, which works on his (i'm sure it used to work on mine) is not possible in Outlook Express.

In view of the fact there are a number of programmes that this trait manifests it self I suspect there is a common box somewhere which is ticked (or not ticked). Does anyone know where I might find it?

Regards
Bernard
