photo transfer application

Hi all. I'm looking for a photo transfer application that will allow me to quickly work through a batch of JPEGs on a memory card and decide which to keep and which to discard, copy the keepers to my hard drive, and optionally apply some basic operations like crop and resize.

I'm currently doing this browse/filter/transform process through a mixture of the Windows photo browser and Paint.net and it's painfully slow. I'd like an application that is specifically designed for this process.

Googling isn't finding much - does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

What camera do you have and what software came with it? Sounds like the sort of thing Pentax Photo Browser does to me.

Don't do it on the memory card. Copy all to the hard disk; it'll be much faster. Both Irfanview and Faststone will enable you to work through your pictures quickly, weed out what you don't want, and permit simple tweaks to the keepers.

When you feel that you want more, get the Gimp.

All are free.

I have a K20D - didn't think to try the Pentax bundled apps. I'll have a look for the CD.

Faststone looks very promising - I particularly like the single-click 100% zoom, and the way everything has a keyboard short-cut.

We've all been guilty of that one
