Photo Books

Hi,
Hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas. I appreciate this topic has previously been raised but that was 4 years ago-I'm sure things have changed.

Does anyone have any experience with Photo Books. I'm looking to produce a portfolio in a Photo Book, but it is like buying a mobile phone package.

I'm probably looking at A4 Portrait, whereby I can have either 1 X portrait A4 image or 2 X A5 landscape format images.

Oh and does the number of pages quoted mean one side or two sides (e.g. 26 pages =26 or 52 sides?)

I'm a novice with regards to photo books (In my day it was photo albums with prints mounted) Technology.

I've had good results from Blurb and Albelli, the only two I've tried. Albelli has a 30% discount on photobooks at the moment (use code PMT673UK), until 1/1/13.

Pages means just that, as in a book: a 64pp book is made up of 32 leaves of paper.

I have used Bonusprint and was very satisfied with the result but the website can be a bit "cronky".

I think for a portfolio I'd use Blurb. For a normal photobook Albelli.

Bonusprint is owned by Albelli as are many shop brands. Others, like Jessops use CeWe.

I've only produced one photobook, and that was very recently. I used blurb and was more than satisfied with the quality.

I've created 3 photobooks with Blurb and have been very happy with the high quality everytime. I wouldn't use anyone else.

I picked Blurb initially because I wanted to have nearly 200 pages in one book and at the time they we're one of the few that weren't limited to a small number of pages.

I use Photobox for calendars and I'm happy with their printing, though obviously this isn't the same as a book.
