Personalised Number Plates

This totally non-photographic topic, but it amused me when I saw it.

On a car in Anglesey, North Wales a registration number of

G10 SLR

I thought that it might belong to a Samsung owner. I also wondered if it might belong to a respected contributor to this forum.

Anybody know of any other such plates?

Back a few years now I had some fancy Number Plates on my Jeep, been on for a year or two, went to Noth Wales for a holiday got stopped by the police for haveing these plates on. Anyway I would't take them off so he find me £60 fixed penelty. Two months later a letter came from the police saying I was not aloud back into Wales with them plates on, Ya right.

Paul Daniels lived close to me when I was in UK. I regularly saw his plate MAG 1 C. Jimmy Tarbuck had/has the plate COM 1 C.

An infantry officer chum has FUS1L, and another pal had the best number of all, IMO, V8 on an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Nearby someone has GLA560W, someone else has MUS1C and a lawyer has LAW5; another lawyer, I think, has LIE5, I've also seen H1YAA locally. "Credit Crunch? What Credit Crunch"

Perhaps the ultimate photographers plate? GOT 7A?

I have my own private plate (which is on my dads car at the moment as its no good here). Cost me a fair bit quite a few years ago, its only numbers followed by my initials but when I had my first son I made sure he had the same initials as me so when the time came I could pass it on to him.

My brother and sister-in-law have personalised plates. His has his initials, hers has her nickname.
My very first car, a clapped out 1964 mk1 Cortina had a personal plate to me on it by coincidence, but it never occurred to me to try and move it onto the next car.
My old boss had a very valuable number plate, 1 xyz (where xyz represent the letters), which he transferred from car to car, even from a write off which wasn't allowed really. He has since given up driving, but his son has it now - so not so daft of you Mike!
Now we are in the Netherlands such things are of the past. You get the number you are given and like it. When the car goes so does the number.
Of course in the US things are so much more fun. I love reading the number plates there. A friend has Big Al and Alz van, but I have seen some great plates there.

Best plate I ever spotted was way back in the early 80s, HOP 1N, on a bright yellow Opel Manta.

Well he actually just wanted the plate but the owner wouldn't split them but fell in love with the car, depsite its naff colour - gold with a leather and velour interior, driving it back from the south coast of England. He had it painted in dark metallic gray with a gray Connelly hide interior. Nice.

I often see what are clearly custom plates and have no idea what they are supposed to mean or say. Those are a bit of a waste of time really.

The chap that owns the Trading Estate where I used to work has the number plate TOP 10 on one of his Rollers. DLT once offered him £100,000.00 for it and he refused the offer.

It does annoy me when people alter the plate by moving numbers and letters together (as with above) this is illegal but no one seems to stop these cars.

There is a woman living near me - she certainly missed out when looks were on offer - but she has a number plate N 1 MFO and no I have not tried to find out if it is true!
