you may well be right there,

10 years ago it was a foolish idea to build a compact which didn't have a proper viewfinder as well as its screen. It's now pretty unusual to see a compact with a VF. The screens are now up to the task for compact camera use.

I reckon EVFs and live view on SLRs are now about where using the screen as a VF was on compacts about 10 years ago. For now it will stay a rarity to see an SLR style camera without a true viewfinder, but as the technology improves the gap will close.

AF will get better, EVFs will get better and eventually the cost and space needed for a pentaprism finder wont be worth it except perhaps on the very top professional models.

For now though, the Pentaprism remains the best viewfinder technology by far.
you don't have to be mad to post here

Guys get your terminology right.
How can a Single Lens Reflex (SLR) be a reflex without a mirror?
Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangeable Lens (EVIL) is the name of these kind of cameras like the NX10.
BTW is find it a horrid name but well it's what they came up with

I know I might be picky but it's a small effort to get it right.

Something like EVF on a SLR sounds pretty silly if you take it literary.

THE LAST THING ANYONE WANTS TO DO IS TO CHANGE THEIR LENSES IF THEY HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE. I THINK THE NEW CAMERAS IS ALSO AIMED @ THE NEW GENERATION OF PHOTOGRAPHERS. I STILL LIKE THE SOUND OF A DECENT SHUTTER! OLD SCHOOL IS COOL

Well Korad the shutter is still there so you won't be disappointed, you might miss the sound that the mirror makes when flipping out of the way and back again.

ps. your caps lock is on

read my post again, I said SLR style, which is what they are. They are still designed to look and behave like an SLR, they just aren't one in the strict sense because they have no mirror.

I don't like EVIL as an acronym so I refuse to use it, I prefer "SLR style" and will continue to use it until a proper acronym or other name asserts itself.

Mongoose, Yes you're right and sorry for that but it wasn't directed directly at you but more globally.
SLR style isn't the worth either because it all depends on how you look at it, they are closer to a bridge camera were you can change the lens then a SLR to my eyes.
Also what are the Olympus E-P1 "Pen" and Panasonic Lumix GF1 then?
Those fit nicely next to the Samsung NX10 but I can not call them "SLR style" like since they are far closer to a point & shoot were you can change the lenses, "point & shoot style" like maybe?
The only thing that fits for both is Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangeable Lens system (EVIL) I'm afraid

I know I ain't happy either with it but there is nothing better at the moment and since EVIL is a proper acronym I don't see why we shouldn't use it besides that it sound like cr*p

Depends, nikon, canon, pentax, olympish and all the other true photography brands have of course the knowledge for making a good SLR.
Companies like Samsung, sony, panasonic, etc, are electronic brands and these EVIL cameras are perfect for them since they don't have to deal with complicated mirror systems.

I think the true photographs brands will keep the SLR alive as long as they can since that's their major thing they have over the electronic brands and of course the lenses.
Also these brands need to make a new lens line up if the distance between the sensor and lens change and I don't think many current user would like that.
dslrs are making waves with video shooters...

if pentax wants a chunk of that market, they will need a mini hdmi out, a mic in, and listen carefully: leaf shutter lens...30 and 60 mm....
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.
