In June Pentaxdan said:

"At the moment we are running on offer on subscription to the Pentax User Club. If you buy 2 years membership you will receive a Pentax Xtra Slave Flash for free. So thats £33.50 for 8 magazines, the normal club benefits and the slave flash.

Many Thanks

Dan"

I have a few of queries about this

1. I can't find the offer on the subscription site
2. How do we check when our subscription is due?
3. Does Pentaxdan exist asi sent him a pm when he posted the information in June and have not eceived a repy yet?

has anybody any thoughts on this? Am I just missing something?

I have forwarded your comments and you should hear something, presumably in office hours.

1. we haven't placed the offer on the site as it's a special invitation only offer.
2 send us an email with your house no and postcode so we can check your expiry date
3. Dan's email is working and I'm not sure what went wrong there. send one to me if you prefer peter at pentaxuser dot co dot uk (done to avoid spam)

Hope that helps

The office number is in your magazines that you received before your renewal - give them a ring.

We pride ourselves in giving good customer support...ie answering emails etc. All I can think if an email has been sent and not replied is it got lost in the system because of spam filters which tend not to be perfect these days As John says give the office a call if it's a membership enquiry.

I've sent several e-mails all labelled not spam to Pentax with no response. Each time requesting the same info - Whta happened to the e-naws letters subscribers ar supposed to receive?

The only way I find out about whats happening, software, firmware updates etc is via this great forum

Sadly the newsletter has been on hold because of spam. You may not be aware, but this site got hit a while ago by the spammers. It resulted in many members of this forum being banned because their IP fell in the same range. We managed to resolve most of that now but it's a painful process.

The newsletter had problems that we haven't fixed.

We have a plan to revamp the whole PU site in the coming months which will allow us to get the newsletter back on track. And add some new features to this site.

Please don't revamp it as much as epz... whether it's increased visitors or the changes but I'm finding epz painfully slooooooow and I don't visit nearly as much (partly because of that).
It would be a shame to lose the speed and immediacy of this forum

How about announcements of a newsletter type being made on a blog, to which people can subscribe (RSS or Atom), so that they can be alerted to updates etc and don't have to search the forum for notification of firmware releases etc.

I just received a 'NewsLetter', it read more like a 'HistoryLetter'. Nothing much in it that we didn't already know. Much of the information it contained was news, about a month ago.

Come on Dan, send us some real news, like . . . "Pentax firmware engineers have fixed the exposure issues with manual lenses".

That would be real news.

You're right, of course. How about sending the 'Newsletter' out just a little closer to when the news is news though.

I did read somewhere that Pentax might have to change the meaning of SDM to 'Some Day, Maybe'. Let's hope that doesn't come true and the lenses really are ready for shipping.

Good luck with the new website. Keep it plain, simple, current, and to the point and you'll not go far wrong.
