Pentax Software

Just installing various apps on a new PC and went to pentax.jp to download Photo Lab and Photo Browser.

Slow ... or what ... downloading at just a few hundred kilobits per second - 15 minutes to get the .exe

Just wondering too, will I gain any benefits from using Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4.11 instead of the older 3.61 ?

edit:

Grrrrrrrrr ...

It wants the original CD to confirm the previous version! Why? It is not as if the software is of use to anyone without a Pentax!

I now need to go and find it ...

So, it look sas though my original CDs are in storage.

Does anyone know of a work around? Downloading V1 of te software worked at one time but that is not longer available.

Write "Pentax Digital Utility 4" on a CD and install it on your computer. Then, you should be able to download the upgrade.

If I put 4 on - I presume it will deal with *istD and K20D PEF files then all will be fine.

Does the CD need a "Name"?

The major step forward with version 4 was the GUI. It was awful on version 3.x.

The name is "Pentax Digital Utility 4". As long as the upgrade recognises the name, it will download to your computer without problems.

I just realised what you originally meant! and am currently writing the disk. I did try it from a USB drive but could not get a long name.

You don't need to write a disk!
Just create an ISO and give it that name and mount it in a virtual drive

Tried all ways ... and it still fails to install.

Has anyone successfully achieved it without an old version installed?

Major problem ...

I cannot get the full volume name ... Everything seems to limit it to just 16 characters!

I love the way you "just" do this...

It truly isn't that hard.
Get this program link and follow these instructions link and you've an ISO.
Virtual drive is also easy to get there are several programs, I use Daemon tools.

It seems real easy the way you put it. Unfortunately, we're not all engineers.
