The FA 85mm I bought from them years ago was A1 condition.....
Presume it was the sort of lens you had yearned for for some time?

MXV had an FA85/1.4 a couple of weeks ago.
I had a terrible LBA urge to go and see it...
Aaaaaaaargh - what a strain - managed to resist the urge

Matt,
It's probably as well you didn't go and see/handle the FA* 85mm F1.4 because I doubt you'd have been able to resist. It really is very special in every way - build, optics & handling.
People would cringe to see mine though because not long after I bought it I dropped it out of my rucksack and it's not got a big dent in the filter ring! I never use filters with it anyway (it'd be sacrilege) so it's not been a problem.
Regards
Steve

I knew that... and saying it doesn't make me feel any better I told myself that the SMC-F 50mm f1.4 would have to suffice It's probably as well you didn't go and see/handle the FA* 85mm F1.4 because I doubt you'd have been able to resist. ...that and maybe the SMC-DA* 16-50/2.8

Aldridge,
West Mids.
Just to say, there should probably be a 85/1.4 A* on the Ffordes lists within 1-2 days as I am just returning one to them.
They checked it over on the phone for me and described it as having 'no marks whatsoever' on the optics. When it turned up, the front optic was absolutely peppered with so many marks (probably coating marks) that I found it impossible to count them.
So this is just a warning about its REAL condition, if anyone here spots it and fancies buying it..
I also suggested to Ffordes that they inspect lenses properly, in daylight near a window...to save us all some time, hassle and money.
cheers Steve.
