Pentax/Ricoh forums ?

I would love it if images taken with Ricoh cameras were permitted on this site.

I've owned Ricoh compacts for over thiry years, going back to the 500G rangefinder which still works (I think). My current compact is an R7 which I enjoy using but has seen little use since Mrs C. cought me a K100D and I stumbled across this wonderful forum.

I'd like to buy something like a CX3 (or equivalent) after the merger becomes concrete... It'll save my aching shoulder from constantly hefting around a DSLR plus lens! As for the standard of images? Well they're obviously inferior for critical work and pixel peeping, but full-frame on a computer screen at low ISO...I can't tell the difference.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Point taken Gwyn, maybe the Optio section could be renamed 'Compact Cameras' or something similar.

That would give an area for debate and questions.

Would there need to be a Ricoh Film section as well?
Cheers, HG

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

Ricoh isn't a good name for a camera. Ricoh is the name of a tall dark, greasy guy in a polyester lounge suit making awkward, sleazy come-ons to every woman in sight at an airport bar.

"Allo dere, Ma name is R-R-R-Ricoh, and zoo lookin' shexchy tonite"
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Don't let RioRico hear you say that Don!

(And isn't that a bit racist? :twisted

To me, Ricoh has been a good name for SLRs since my first SLR, the XR2 camera. And the Rikenon 1.7/50mm certainly was a good lens, comparable to the Pentax M equivalent.

If Ricoh hasn't lost all their senses, I believe that the merge will be good for Pentax (at least I hope so).
Best regards

They'll merge to form a new evolutionary being: The Ritax, or Pencoh.

Blech, bad names LOL.

I love the statement about "expanding the range of lenses". Ricoh might go prime-crazy with Pentax and release SL (Semi-Limited) lenses LOL.

Since we're speculating, maybe this is the step that was needed to have Pentax go to full frame, with a release of two new limiteds?

Imaginations running wild.

But they use full frame APS-C sensor right???

I doubt they will also make a 135 format camera, they are already busy making lenses for the Q-mount and the DFA645-mount i doubt they will want to support 4 different mounts, i find 3 already daring.
There is no other brand beside 3rd party lens makers to support so many mounts.

As far as the forum goes, if Ricoh have bought the Pentax brand, I think all Ricoh camera's should be allowed on the forum
Why did no one suggest that users of Hoyas new medical aquisitions be allowed to post images taken with Pentax colonoscopes

I agree with JR, I think its a bit early in the day to start speculating.

Look on my comment on page one
It stays Pentax for the interchangeable lens systems no idea about the compacts.

Pentax latest compacts are pretty decent though, don't know how the names sells though...
But i agree with Don here, it might be better for Ricoh to use the name Pentax for all the photography related products to push the marketing and the name further.
I mean the Pentax DSLR can pull the name up together with the Compacts if the are named Pentax.

The most interesting thing to me is that Hoya appears not to have sold Tokina yet. Currently Tokina lenses are not available with a Pentax mount, presumably in order to avoid competition with Pentax branded lenses - which generally are on the market at a higher price than those which are Tokina branded. If Tokina stays with Hoya maybe Tokina will now be able to release lenses with a Pentax mount at a better price.

Pentax and Tokina's relationship may well continue... I think they were working together on lenses before Hoya bought Pentax. It would be good if Tokina produced some of their own lenses and provided them in K mount - but without Pentax's involvement, would they be as good?
