Well however they plan on running it, not a good start IMO.
Peter Jones told the beeb the website would go live at midday... A timer went up... The timer ran to zero... Now't happened...
Plenty in the news about the re-opening of the shops - which is great - but there appears to be a media blackout on the fail of the website...
I got all excited about the prospect of a 'highstreet-web-store' that I might actually shop in... This morning was really exciting... My colleague and I even did a count-down and when now't happened she laughed her head off!!

Happened that today morning I was passing by Oxford Street Jessops branch and first noticed guy in jessops t-shirt cleaning window, that was surprising, then noticed plenty of suited people inside, "party" ongoing and a tv transmission car in a nearby street, just later I found news about re-opening. In the afternoon I saw customers in the shop, I thin they had some special offers as well, may be worth checking shops and web when its alive.
Just in case someone is interested New Oxford St branch looked as closed as it was in last months.

If you can remember the old price list (large sheet of newspaper with tiny writing) you can remember how good Jessops were.
Good prices, Good staff, huge stock, often the first port of call for out of the ordinary accessories. If they didn't have it they would get it but they usually had it listed on the price list. They even listed a magnifying glass to read the price list with, after someone had complained about the size of the print.
Searching the old list was entertainment in itself. I think they stopped doing the price list because they couldn't print it in time to keep it current.
Seconded. Often used to deviate through Leicester to pick up the list on the way to where I was going and do the shopping from it on the way back.If you can remember the old price list (large sheet of newspaper with tiny writing) you can remember how good Jessops were.

We're surprised when a website isn't online on time? C'mon, this is Britain, it's been several decades since anything more complicated than a full English breakfast was delivered on deadline or within budget.

Another interesting bit, just got email from Jessops Photo saying that their customer database has been acquired by Cewe Color Ltd and they are going to continue with online photo services.

Visiting the 'new' website looks like 'more of the same'! Identical lay out and uncompetitive prices (at least in Pentax)

Unfortunately no mention of 'Pentax' on the website Home page. Nikon, Canon, Sony, Panasonic etc but not Pentax. Have to delve through the menu's before Pentax appears.

Front page is heavily brand biased. Oh well no surprises there given the "commercial persuasion" that goes on. Dog eat dog world.

Correct. Plus £87 for a two year warranty most of us enjoy for free! So no brave new world hen for us at this chain?
