My K10D really needs to go back to Pentax so that I can get a mark looked at on my sensor (Too heavy handed with my rocket blower).
It may need a new sensor or maybe just a clean but can anyone tell me what their turnaround time are like?

Thanks.

Pentax received my K20D Tuesday AM, so we will see how long it takes on the web site they aim for a turn round within 5 working days.

Therefore should be Tues/Wed and I hope by easter at the latest.

Mike,

From what I understand it is very hard to damage the sensor in that way, there are a couple of filters in front of it. Have you tried wet swab cleaning pads?

BTW, usually there is a filter in front of the sensor, so it is not possible to scratch sensor, you may give it one more go and see if this is just a dirt or really some mechanical damage on the filter.

I tried scrubbing it with a brillo pad and still the mark would not budge.
Well maybe not .. but I had a bloody good go at it.
The way I see it I can send the camera to Pentax and they will tell me whats wrong .. If I do not agree to their charges then they return it at no extra cost to me so all I pay is postage to them.

Posted my K10D just over 2 weeks ago - still not back. It was in for repair - I dropped it

Nothing happened for first week - it had been booked in incorrectly, and didn't discover it until I rang up!. Should be back very soon - in part dependent on whether they needed to wait for parts to come in

I believe that any complicated repairs have to be sent out of the country, and that tends to take time. My *ist D took about a month when it was sent to Germany, but came back like a new camera.

When I lived in London, I used to take items to Slough myself. Sometimes they'll fix simple things while you wait (and occasionally FOC).

You need to chat up the girl on reception, though. Then she'll summon a technician and you can discuss the problem.

There's also an opportunity to talk about or see or handle new kit - with no pressure to buy!
