If it has been out of use for a while you should first check the batteries. New batteries may be all you need.
However, wedding shoots should definitely not be undertaken with any equipment that you are not totally familar with and can operate in your sleep....
Hope that helps!

Hi There,
The batteries were the first thing i changed,
I will also be taking my little digital camera, I just thought since i has this camera i might as well try to use it.
The Pentax website appears to infer that £60 should get it repaired.
I think i'll give it a go.
Many thanks

IMHO your £60 would be better spent on ebay. I'm sure there is some sentimental attachment to you dad's camera but that's not necessarily a good reason to start throwing money at it and you could probably replace it with something a lot newer for that kind of money.

let's put it this way,
I've just sold a Z-50P on ebay for £23 and was happy to get that much for it.
IMO a Z70 is not worth a £60 repair

Even Ffordes.co.uk (which is never that cheap) has several Z70s going for £69 and that will include a warranty

All Pentax lenses will fit the digital SLRs, very early ones with some limitations.
If it is an AF lens there will be no problem.

Much to my dissapointment i found that the shutter does not work properly, at least not all the time. i found that when i hold the camera upside down it works fine. When i try to use it normally it does not work.
The shutter appears to not complete its cycle.
Does anyone know why this is? or has anyone else had this problem.
Does anyone out there have an idea of how much this could cost to fix?
Many Thanks
