Is it still something that's maintained?

I've had 5 photos waiting to be approved since March 3rd

What's everyones general opinion of it these days, is it worth doing anymore?

Paul.

I don't think it is being maintained, because new bodies, like the K-1, and some lenses are not recognized from the exif data. Nor can you select them from the equipment lists.

But long approval times are nothing new!

That's a shame, I must have been lucky the times I used it before as it was pretty quick.

I often use the gallery, I find flickr to be quite good but it is at times a little confusing and overly-complicated.

I'm always looking for new online galleries to try out, anyone have any recommendations?

The obvious one is PU's sister site ePHOTOzine.

ONLY IF IT INTERESTS. I also for family and friends use Google Photos at the slightly compressed free to use option. It's not Flickr as it has no unique address. I do though link to people I know via my personal website and let them know via Google's associated Blogger/Google + which are gradually merging. It is the opposite of most galleries in that it can be a completely private group viewing option such as for grandchildren. No adverts (yet!)

Google+ has been a missed opportunity to my mind, badly launched and always being messed with and only vaguely merged with the ancient Blogger. Shame because they've now given me a direct address option for it that amounts to a web page too. All free. Example for you: https://plus.google.com/+BillBarnesUK

Example: my day to day Spring walks in the park album I add to every few days at present. Such albums can be view only/contribute/sharable. https://goo.gl/photos/Pi2ySBmg4Jjisszt8

My web site with links to galleries on Google Photo. billbarnes.co.uk if interested. NOT a gallery but a resource for friends and family to view. I make it with Serif Webplus which sadly is no longer to be replaced.

If you've got your own website, why not install your own gallery software on it such as Piwigo? It's free too!

I have you will see several gallery pages on my web site thanks. Webplus includes many such options. Not as useful for sharing. Web sites are often ignored by the younger members of our family. They are phone based and prefer apps such as Google Photos or Facebook it seems.

Piwigo is mobile phone friendly, users can select a theme from the choice you allow them defaulting to a mobile friendly one where appropriate. It is very customizable too.
The family could even upload their own photos to it directly from their mobiles (though I've never tested that!)

I'm not sure where to post photos on this site. I regularly post in the main gallery but I've realised others are placing photos in the forum.

Would it not be better if we all posted photos and comments in the main gallery?

Personally I like this site as it is small and personable. I have a major distaste for google or flicker anything and will never ever use them for obvious reasons.

DPR had great (easy) site navigation if it wasn't for the measurebators, equipment arguments and lack of photographic content.

This is more local too... Uk,Ireland, Europe (sorry if I haven't included a few others who are most welcome of course ☺

The photos in the forums can generate discussions of a different flavour to the gallery, but both are there to be used as members see fit. The forum seems to encourage more of the discussions on techniques, but there's no rule to govern which we should use.

Back to the start of this thread, the Pentax Photo Gallery is run by http://us.ricoh-imaging.com/ and it has a couple of expired links which shows the site isn't being well maintained. Probably the responsibility of an employee who is too busy/cannot be bothered. I guess the camera and lens links only get updated when a new model is used for a photo; a quick review of the latest additions doesn't give a clue when they were taken or added, nor do any have comments which indicates lack of interest and would suggest that the site has been superceded by Flickr, a shame as the body/lens select function is really good. Maybe kickstart the site by message-bombing in the comments!

I've uploaded images taken with the K-1 and they don't seem to have triggered it's inclusion in the list of bodies.
I have the feeling when Ricoh to over from Hoya is when the PPG stopped being supported.

Maybe some one can confirm it, but wasn't the PPG run by Pentax USA rather than Pentax globally
