I don't know what you mean, it's working fine here and there are still regular contributions. What is the point of a camera forum without photos?

Stan, are you talking about the Pentax Photo Gallery website? If so, that has nothing to do with Pentax User.
We have our own Gallery here and people are posting as usual, some very fine shots as well.
Just needs clarification to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.

The Pentax Photo Gallery, which I believe is based in the USA, does seem to have ground to a halt. I posted pictures in it for a number of years as did many members on Pentax User, but the time between submission and acceptance or rejection has just got longer until it seems to have packed up.
My last acceptances were in April 2015. Some I entered in February this year are still waiting for a decision.

While on the subject of the PU photo gallery, are we still limited to an image size of 1000 x 1000 pixels (can't find info on this anywhere in the site), if so are there plans to have this increased in line with EPZ.
Cheers

Brian, referring to this site now, the 1000 pixels is for images put into the forum and is typical for a message forum. It keeps loading speeds up and is enough for images to support text.
As for our own Gallery, post bigger images if you want to as a High Res version will then be available. However, make them too big and loading times will become longer and people may not wait if they are on slower connections. I would limit images to 2000 pixels for this reason, but by all means try it and see what the system will accept. Don't try it in the forum though as all that will happen is that the forum software will resize it for you and maybe not as well as we can do it upfront.

I'm pleased to say I have not waited that long. A couple I entered mid April were approved last month. Some I entered in February this year are still waiting for a decision.
David
I've never been able to find out how the approval system works. I get the thumbs up or down bit, but for an approval do you :-
1 have to pass a threshold for the number of thumps up's
2 have to have the correct ratio of up's to downs.
3 complete one of the above in a set time.
4 have a total number of votes cast over any time.
Anybody have the answer?

It seems to be dying a slow death. It's a shame Ricoh/Pentax have such a week PR department. This could be so easily, with minimum cost, turned into a very prestige marketing tool. Most new Pentax users don't even know it exists. One only finds out through Pentax forums.

Thanks John, now we know

Sorry for any confusion. I meant the Pentax Photo Gallery. I've done a few "judging" sessions on the PPG and to be honest there are so many poor images that I'm of the opinion that the good are just swamped, so won't be adding any of mine. I still post to the PU gallery as often the feedback is useful.

I don't think that's the case Stan. When I've look at the Recently Added images I come across really good pictures I've never seen during any of the "judging" I've done. Which again make me wonder how the approval system works.

I hadn't been on for quite a while but a few days ago I checked and the last five images I posted in February had all been accepted.
Perhaps I should be more diligent in voting on all the submissions and the process might speed up again.
I must agree with both Stan and Barrie. There are a lot of very ordinary pictures submitted but those selected, on the whole, tend to be rather good.
I also agree with Magdalena, PPG which attracts world wide entries could be a terrific shop window for Ricoh/Pentax.

I must admit I am a fan of PPG just for the ability to choose a lens and see what others have achieved with it.
