Pentax P30n

Hi there!
I hope this is the apropriate place... it seems to be.

I recently got an anniversary gift in advance, from a friend of mine.
Its a P30n with SMC-A 50mm 1.7 and a cord for the shutter.
Its all in very good condition, but the problem is... I dont really want it or need it.

I have a K10D and a SMC-A 50mm F1.7 as well. I had commented I wanted to try out film on an older Pentas to this friend... Thing is I really ment something like the MX or ME. Especially the MX, its older and mechanical. I think it'll be a good challenge to start to really have to work more to get the picture (to much time on automated modes...)

So... What I want to know is what can I expect to get for these things?
I bought the same lens, so I'd say £35 to £45 there. But the body and the cord I have no idea...

BTW, I'm going for the MX and not a K1000 for the size and weight, any other suggestions?

Without a lens the body should fetch around £10 (the cord you mentioned is just pennies), most that sell on eBay have their value pushed up by the lens attached, having said that you'd undoubtably get more by selling the lens and body seperately.

As for which camera to buy; I'd say an MX is a fine choice!

£10? That hardly even covers the hassle.
But I will sell the lens anyway so I'll probably include it.

Thank you.

I just checked my database and yup, a tenner for the body but between 40 and 50 quid for the lens. You may well get more for the lens selling it without the camera.

If you want a manual only body, the MX is the one to go for. I could never understand the cult status of the K1000 myself. The LX is a beauty of a camera but bigger, heavier and more expensive than the MX.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I couldn't agree more with the MX being the manual only Pentax to go for.

Check my thread, 35mm cameras for sale for my own camera which is going to appear on Ebay on Thursday, starting at 99p.
Owned: MX (bought 1980), ME Super, Super A, Optio S4, Espio 120SW (and standby Espio 105SW), Stereo (3D) adaptor, 35-105mm, 70-210mm, 50/1.4, AF200S, AF200T, AF280T.

Thank you all for the input.

The MX it is.
I'll keep an eye out for it, Dodge.
