Pentax or Sony?

WOW!
The quality of the Pentax is far superior.
Is the K200d better than the K100d super then?
The specs are better (10mp vs 6mp) , but even at only 6mp the k100d results are astonishing!

you had me there.
the only difference between the k100d super and the k200d is the 6mp to 10mp and the k2ood is weather proof and thats about it as for pic quality there aint nothing in it and on a comparision of the k100d super to the sony a350 the 6mp of the k100d has no great noticable difference to the 14mp of the sony and i only got the k200d because i sold my k100d to buy sony (what a mistake )
but got k200d now and chuffed as nuts hope this helps

i may upgrade the body to the K20d
Hi Matt,i may upgrade the body to the K20d
if you are planning to upgrade to a K20D in the future the K10D would be a better choice since the way both cameras handles is virtually the same.
It cost a bit more now since the cashback Pentax is giving on the K200D but you will feel right at home from day one with a K20D if you've had a K10D. If you go from K200D to a K20D you'll need to learn how to use it.
There is a recent topic about this so go and read it link

So you would say the K200d is a better buy. The k100d doesnt have image stabilisation does it?
Would it be better for me to get the k110d(has IS) , build up my lenses then buy a k20d or just buy the k200d and stick with that?

It's the other way around Matt, the K100's have IS and the K110 doesn't.
You should go for the K100D super if you want a K100D since that's the only one that support the new SDM lenses.
The price difrence between a K100D and a K200D is a bit more then £50 with the cashback. So get a K200D for the weather sealing since the sensor in the K200D is also very good, it's the same as in the K10D and it's a veteran among Pentax.

But if you want a nice light camera you can carry at all times, with good ergonomics, and capable of good results, try the K-m. My partner has it. I have the K100D which I love, but I'm still jealous of her's.
Jacobs are selling it for only £330, less £30 cash back. At £300 it's a real bargain.

About the only thing that made me think of switching to Canon was the lack of tilt/shift lenses in the Pentax range (only 28mm shift no longer in production) but I solved the problem by buying a 5x4 view camera to go with my Pentaxes....DOnt you ever get itchy feet and think that the sony or canon this is better?

Enjoy the K200D and you'll find the people here wonderfully willing to be helpful if you have any questions.
Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I solved the problem of the lack of a shift lens by using a £75 tool! Now all my lenses can operate as shift lenses!

pics were very good when light was spot on and the iso didnt go higher than 200 otherwise the noise was bad and i mean bad.
i had a k100d super before the sony and iso noise control on the k100d super was second to none. so i traded the sony in for a pentax k200d much better. (take a look at pic with sony i have on gallery of my bros car astra gsi turbo) pentax all the way
