Pentax Optio S- User feedback

Hi, I think my Optio S is great, the only thing I'd change (improve!) is the response time from pressing the shutter release, to it actually taking a picture. Even on fixed focus, no flash, it's getting on for 2 seconds...
...unless anyone else has one, and they don't have the same problem, in which case, perhaps I should take mine back...

I can't say about the Optio S, but I have just got the Optio S4, and it is superb. Just perfect as a pocketable camera, with great features and high quality images. I have used an Olympus XA and then a Pentax Efina as my carry anywhere (anytime!) camera in the past but the Optio S4 just leaves them all standing. Nice to have a camera that makes my mini disc player seem bulky!

Yep, I love my Optio S4 and carry it everywhere with me.
There are a lot of Optio S users that feel the same way, as the tYahoo group i set up a couple of months ago now has over 525 members. See below for link. We're just about to announce voting for the winner of our Winter 2003 competition, generously sponsored by Pentax!

I'm interested in getting the Pentax Optio S. This would be my fist real camera and my first digital camera. I would really like to know your opinion on the camera; pro's & con's. and any tips that you could give me!
Cheers,
Robert
