Pentax Mirrorless (or is it?) small interchangable lens camera

Look at this rumour as Pentax are about to announce a rival to the G-system, NEX, NX and Pen camera.

Well, it is not a surprise, as for money generating, these CSC cameras are where the makes need to be. (Nikon are also rumoured and have patented a system, nowt from Canon though)

However, will it be mirrorless? They have expertise in the tiny SLR market with the 110 system, so why not use that tech and have the same lenses? Of course a sensor is larger (thickness wise) than a roll of film, so maybe mirrorless is the way to go. But, and this is a but. use the 110 mount, use the old lenses, and bring out new lenses, yet use the 4/3rds sensor. Keep the focal plane the same and voila!

The article says that it will be announced in March. Hmmmmm, when is Focus? Oh yes MARCH!!!!!

I am drooling at the thought.....

That would be awesome and the 4/3's crowd won't complain if it is evf or pentaprism, either way it works...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Hopefully we can put a stop to all this then: link

Actually it looks really cool in an old-meets-new kind of way! I hope (if Pentax go this way) they don't make it toooo retro....

Right - time to go and buy lots of 110 lenses!

I actually don't want Pentax to join the 4/3rds system. I'd rather have something that plugs in to my DSLR system, even with an adapter. But with the 110 heritage and existing lenses (which seem to be growing in popularity in 4/3rds circles)... perhaps it makes sense.
