Pentax-M SMC 28mm 2.8
For digital, the A series version would be more convenient, but no doubt more expensive as well.
Best regards, John
I didn't buy it only because I'm saving up for the K7 and don't want to spend too much on new lenses now.
Seen pics taken with this one and I believe I will like it, if not I'll just resell it

Do a careful comparison of the colours. look at red brickwork, grey roofs, black paint etc. My copy is nowhere near as good as the Kit lens 18-55mm Mk 1.
shim
You've already got a 17-70mm zoom which is probably better. The Kit lens is also better. Not one of Pentax's best nowhere near the quality of the A series 24mm.
But as a dinky 28mm f2.8 prime lens, it beats both of those hands down by definition

When you get the lens, do a comparison test and post the results on here... would be interesting to see if Shim's right.

(I don't have the kit lens, I bought the Sigma instead)
I don't know if this is better, but from the pics I've seen it take it surely looks like it.
Will probably get it just before I leave for Croatia.
Will use it there and post pics for you to see when I get back in august, if I don't get it in time to test it before I leave.

So the A 24mm is the way to go?
I better look out for it then since I want a good and sharp lanscaper lens.
But before I buy my K7 I don't think I will put more money in new lenses now.
(Have 1 more inc. and are bidding on a Carl Seiz 135mm)

The Kit Lens can still give the 24mm a run for it's money and it has better colour. I've got both, but unless I need an f/2.8 lens I'm happy to use the Kit Lens. The Kit Lens can show very slight purple fringing which you rarely get with the 24mm.
The 135mm by CZ is supposed to be very good, personally I would find the focal length a bit restricting = 200mm on 35mm?
shim
Well its true I got a 17-70 Sigma but I don't like it when I take landscape pics, it's not sharp enough.
Sorry I was assuming that you bought that because it was better then the Kit Lens. I've no knowledge of the Sigma so if you say it's not sharp enough then it isn't. Hard to believe it won't be better than the 28mm for landscapes though

Yes, I bought it instead of the kit lens since I red it to be better, but I can't compare them since I don't have them both. I'm just not satisfyed with landscape portraits, other than that it's a great lens and most of my pics in the gallery has been taken with it.
Will be interesting to see the differences between the Sigma at 28mm and the incoming Pentax

Magnus, I find my DA* 16-50 zoom excellent for landscapes, very sharp once it's stopped down a bit.
Maybe have a look at one if and when funds allow

I surely will do that.
Just have to find another photojob for money instead of all these free jobs for friends

Any thoughts of it?
Seemed to be a rather good lens for the money and even tho it's cheaper to buy the same lens from the US, the final price will be way over this one after postal service and VAT and stuff (when shiped to Sweden)
