Pentax LX Motor Drive

I was lucky to find a second hand Pentax LX with a Motor Drive and a NiCd battery pack. I have charged the battery pack with the Charge Pack M for 12 hours, so it should be ready to use. The LX has fresh SR44 batteries and a film is loaded.

Then when i press the shutterbutton, the motor drive beeps or buzzes and the red LED i lit. The shutter is not released and the shutterbutton is unable to move down - neither to trigger the meter or trigger the shutter.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I downloaded the manuals from somewhere on the internet, but the pictures are bad so I cannot see details, and I cannot find any error state description.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
This is typical behaviour of dead batts in the NiCd pack. Your only option is to get a new battery pack which may well have the same problem or to replace the cells in the pack. The original 1/3AF cells are difficult to come by but you can use 1/3AA NiMh cells which get round the memory effect. If you would like me to do the job, I have a specialist battery supplier who makes up the sub assemblies for me. Drop me a PM if you are interested.

Kim
