Pentax Lens refresh...

These lenses are FF capable are they not? They changed pretty much just the coatings?
so it appears to me that the FF body is not ruled out... if anything, the refresh shows a higher resolution sensor is on it's way.... so the most likely candidates for that sensor will be found in Nikon or Leica bodys.... no?
seems like what ever they release it will be a fine camera and definitely weather-sealed...
I can't wait to see what is next!
Damn if only they had released these with the K-01 in red and black as well as silver!!!!

embarrassing to release a FF camera and then remove two
recently released lenses from the FF brochure, besides DA
means APS-C you can't release a FF camera and say some of the
DA HD lenses are suitable.
The 40mm is soft at the edges even on APS-C, so I would
not like to use that on FF.
The red ring seems to denote HD it was used on the 560mm.
If you look at the roadmap, they now use 4 colours...
Red, Green, Gold plus Purple for the 31mm,43mm and 77mm

Speaking of FF compatibility, how the hell did they manage to make a 560mm that isn't?

...and why can't they make a DFA 250-600 f5.6 again, the 560mm RRP is about £6000, which would make the DFA*250-600 a steal at £8000....Speaking of FF compatibility, how the hell did they manage to make a 560mm that isn't?

The 560mm looks OK to me. A lot of lenses vignette heavily wide open on
APS-C never mind FF.

DA doesn't necessarily mean a lens doesn't have full frame coverage, the DA Telezooms are more or less full frame throughout their ranges. I believe the DA* 200 and 300 are both full frame coverage lenses, and I'd be stunned if the 560 isn't.

Me too but that's pretty bad vignetting, that said they tested on an Mzs film camera, now I have no idea but do Digital sensors behave differently? Or is there permanently techno wizardry going on in the background that they don't tell us about?
Also Pentax Forums have a very negative bias against anything that is less than spectacular on Full Frame. They recently lambasted the 60-250 as well, from memory, it was the site owner quoting on dpreview...

for some reason, I totally missed the link in your post, not doing well today!
Having now had a look, tbh I think they're making a mountain out of a molehill. Yes, it vignettes a bit wide open, but it looks entirely correctable to me. The only test shots you can actually see it in are the ones of the single palm tree against a plain sky.
I just don't see it being a problem in the real world. Certainly no where near enough to merit complaints that it's "not a full frame lens".

I for one could care less about FF sensor.
I gave up film long ago.
I care about image quality, and right now dynamic range is more important to me than sensor size.
I also want RAW video codec.
I have yet to have a client complain about the quality of the files from my k10 which is still my primary workhorse in studio. Despite the fact that I do have newer models, the old one ain't dead, does the job so why stop using it?

Takes a lickin but keeps on tickin!
I'm going cold on Pentax Forums reviews due to some underlying Pro FF but somehow anti Pentax bias that seems to be going on there? Don't get me wrong they are not as guilty as some but they just seem to be banging their collective heads against the same bit of wall all the time, it must get sore after a while...
I'm pretty sure the 60-250 will work fine on FF format too but maybe just a little vignetting at 60mm perhaps?
I actually thought it was not possible to make a lens that wasn't FF compatible after about 60-70mm anyway?
Back on track, sort of, I was wondering wether or not they will update the DA* series to HD, and thinking that they probably wouldn't due to the SP coating, then I realised that 560mm has both, so maybe they will do em all except the kit lenses?

Why did they not put in a DC motor in for quiet operation?
Ricoh is making the line up less attractive to NEW users
The marketing shots of all the DA ltds together look very appealing actually. I don't think people outside Pentax landl are aware of these lovely lenses.
