Pentax KP and Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 II Macro HSM

I used to have the K-5 but bought the KP in December. The Sigma 70-200 2.8 II Macro HSM doesn't seem to work with the KP. The KP goes really flakey, controls are sluggish, dials don't change the settings, AF doesn't work, takes a good few seconds to turn off. Does anyone know anything about this? Could it be firmware related?

The Sigma 70-200mm needs a firmware update, there was an issue with some HSM Sigma lenses and the K-1/KP

Great. Thanks for the info. Do you know how to go about updating the Sigma firmware?

Has to be sent directly to Sigma. Not sure if they still do it though as they don't support Pentax any longer although they must have to for lenses still in warranty.

Phone them (or send an email) and ask, they have always been very helpful with me.

I don't have a sigma lens and I am unsure if they have a firmware update for the KP.

But , Are Sigma lens firmware updated , with a Sigma Dock- device?

The lens firmware has to be updated by Sigma as it is an old version. Only the newest Sigma lenses can be updated by the user with a dock.

Strange that.
My K5 doesn't like the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 (doesn't focus well) but my KP works fine with it.

Linked to this, I had a faulty Sigma lens which was out of warranty, I had some email contact with them last week, filled in the online form and got an RMA number from them, sent the lens to them on Tuesday, they received it yesterday, had a quote this morning which I agreed and paid for, just had an email to say its been repaired and will be back with me via carrier tomorrow.

Stirling service Sigma - Thank you
