Hey Guys,

Loving my KM, but for some reason it takes arround 45Seconds after a 15 Second exposure?

Anyone know why?

My 350D was instant give or take...

Hiya

If it's anything like the K20D then it shoots a sensor noise compensation shot after the actual shot at the same shutter speed. I was horrified when I bought my K20D and took a 20 minute night exposure adn thought the camera had crashed. I had to wait 20 minutes before I could use it again.

45 seconds seems a bit long after a 15 second exposure though. Was that an accurate timing or did it just feel like 45 seconds?

Hi there smegg.

I am glad to know it is just not me, it felt like 45 seconds, is there any reason for this?

Can it be sped up?

You might be able to set it off in the menu, no promises though.

Like Aiki said, this is Dark Frame Subtraction, or DFS. From what I've read that you cannot turn it off. It is definitely quite annoying!

since the Km has the K10D sensor and not the K20D one, you may be able to turn this off in a menu option. You can turn it off on the K10D, but not on the K20.

Be prepared for more noise in long exposures though
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Fine, then it was your "gray moment", Tim.

My avatar is so similar to Smaggy's, I guess

If you look anything like your avatar, I kind of understand why "thoughton" can't stop thinking about you.
