Pentax K5 slow to write to card?

Posted 02/11/2011 - 19:45 - Helpful Comment Link
Hi All,

I have been a member for a few months but new to Pentax cameras.

My previous cameras have bee Olympus, Nikon and Canon.

I bought the K5 two weeks ago as I wanted a smaller lighter camera.

I'm impressed with the built and image quality but the write time to card seems much slower than the other brands mentioned.

Should I, after taking an image in JPEG, any mode, get to fine, 10 or 16MP see an egg timer for 3-4 seconds?

I hope I have posted in the correct forum.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Sounds like you have kens correction ticked or some other processing effect ticked. Try shooting s one shots raw and see if it writes faster

Horizon and lens correction are enabled as standard, turn them off. Also, make sure you are using the latest firmware.

Are you using a long exposure? This would cause that behaviour.

I'd turn of all the in camera processing, it worked for me. Then just turn on what you need when you need it.
