Pentax K10D and Flash Triggers

Hello,

The RF-602 remote flash triggers on ebay are advertised as compatible with Canon or Nikon cameras. I've heard that these can also be used with Pentax. Can anyone tell me which type (Nikon or Canon) would work with my K10D?

I believe its the Canon unit, uses the same 2.5mm jack.

Any wireless flash control will work since they are not camera specific. They are conrolled by the main contact in the hot shoe or by a PC sync cable on cameras without a hotshoe.

I think K10D is momentarily confusing this with a remote release.

Definitely am...

Time to plug in the common sense cable me thinks....

If a Nikon or Canon transmitter was plugged into the Pentax hot shoe wouldn't the extra dedicated pins connect wrongly to the camera and cause problems?

No. Radio triggers are not dedicated to any particular brand of camera. They use only the centre pin which is in the same place on all flashes/hot shoes.

Paul, I think these are universal type triggers. The ebay sellers are just listing Canon / Nikon so that they will show up on various searches by the punters.

The radio triggers I'm looking at are the RF-602. They are reviewed here:

From the photo there are dedicated pins on the receiver for either Nikon or Canon flashguns. I assume the same is for the transmitter. Apparantly these connections provide high speed sync and wake up functions for the flash.

I'm concerned about these connections mating with the camera connections which may serve different functions for a Pentax camera.

I've had cheap triggers before and they don't last don't get me wrong they are good as a get me by

I've just bought Twinlink T2D and the build quality is good a bit expensive but i think they are worth it and the range is 600m i think and can be fired with out being in direct sight

It seems the ones you are looking at are dedicated to Nikon/Canon. I was referring to the PT-04 triggers that I and many others use that are not dedicated at all.

For simple remote flash triggering the PT-04's work well for me.

RF 602 triggers are indeed dedicated but they still will work with Pentax. The dedication allows them to wake up flash at half press of a shutter. If you re using them with old flashes or ones that don't go to sleep after few minutes, they will be fine with any camera.
In fact i just ordered this exact triggerss from dealextreme.com. Good price but slooow shipping.
