Hi

I have a problem with K-5, when i try to set the switch from C to MF and than back i can hear a mechanical click. All works fine no problems with focus system but im worry about that click. Even without the lens the problem exist. If im switching from AF to C and MF ist fine but just after i move the switch up one level from MF to C i hear this CLICK again.
Anybody have a similar experience with K-5 ?

I have guarantee for it but im going 4 of May to Isle Of Skye so I need the camera and im not sure how long does it take them to look on it and return or replace with the new one.

Thanks for reply.

On my K5, I get a faint click when moving from AF.S to C and MF but a louder click when going the other way.

I think you will find there is nothing wrong at all. Try a normal light switch, near to where you are now. Do you notice that the click you get one way is different to the click you get the other way, e.g. on sounds different when switching 'on' to 'off'. Its because the contacts make a different sound when closing or releasing. It is just the mechanical movement of the switch.

Don't worry if it's working ok just enjoy the scenery in Skye!

I hope you right, I get the camera from SRS Watford. Just in case I go there after the trip and ask them what they think about this.

My switch is clicking only when I switching from MF to C, all the rest works smooth and without any sound and I can feel a tiny resistance and jump, but on the other settings all works smooth and fine.

Well, will see.

Thank You doingthebobs for the quick reply. I`m really looking forward to see Isle Of Sky and Scotland itself.

Thank You

Thomas.

I get a definite loud click when going from MF to AFC. I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe it is just an audible reminder that you are going to AF?

Switching between AF and MF is not done just electronically. Mechanical action (engaging and disengaging of the focusing screw) happens, too, so some sounds/clicks are expected. Take the lens out and watch a little pin/screw at the SE corner (looking from the front) come in and out.

Mine clicks as well, sounds a bit like a small spring flexing?

If you remove the lens and do the same you can see the focus drive popping in and out of the flange.

Thanks for the reply.
Looks like a common stuff, but i was surprise as my K7 didn`t have that issue.
I can live with it so thank you once again and have a great weekend.

Just tested, I hear 2 clicks (a switch click and a second 'small spring' type click) on K7 when going MF => C, only 1 (switch click) when going C => AF.S.
... just another middle-aged guy with a hobby. I have an extreme macro learning site at extreme-macro.co.uk - Pentax-centric, your feedback and comments would be appreciated!

On my K7 there was no any sound or stiff movement, that`s the reason why I was so surprise after seeing this on my new K5. I keep an eye on it and will see what happens.

Thank you nass for reply and the rest of you. I`m more relax now and I can really start enjoying my new Pentax .
