The answers will be no and yes repectively. There is no problem getting excellent enlargements from the Pentax DSLRs, as long as the technique is good.
Best regards, John

The best anti-shake device is a tripod! (IMHO)

I second that. Use a tripod.

Actually I'd rather have fewer "gimicks" in the camera software (frames, digital filters, anti-shake) and more useful items like a lower ISO setting than 200

Perhaps we're getting confused with the model numbers!
The *ist-DS2 is already out and available in places like Japan. This is a modified *ist-DS.
The new model, the one that "replaces" the *ist-D professional grade DSLR, has details yet to be confirmed.
However, I agree - use a tripod/monopod. I would much rather it didn't have gimmicks or extra stuff to go wrong. Personally I would rather have smoother dynamic range and a touch less noise than image stabilisation.

when i used to be involved in the motorsport circus i used a set of dumbells and used to sit with then holding them in the same position that i would normally be holding the camera body and lens
this may seem a bit extreme but it gets your wrists and arms used to the weight of the camera lens combination
you could use a couple of bean bags or books thay dont have to be heavy but it will allow you to avoid camera shake
