Dear All,

I have been pondering for a while whether to buy a 28-80.

On a previous thread, some of you recommended the Pentax FA version. Looking at its' spec, it appears very similar to the Tamron version which is still available new in some places.

i.e both f3.5-5.6, 7 elements in 7 groups, ~230g weight, 1:8 magnification, min focus 70cm.

Is it likely that they are manufactured at the same source and is the only real difference probably the SMC coating?

Does anyone know how the IQ will differ between the Pentax FA 28-80 and 28-105 f3.2-4.5 IF lens, as the longer range might be preferrable.

I am thinking about use on the K10D AND the MZ6.

Regards
Peter
