It's almost impossible to diagnose anything without more information. You need to narrow down the possibilities a bit. I would (1) try creating a new user account on your PC and installing it there to see if you still get the error, and then (2) I would try installing it on another PC.

I think I had a similar problem when I first installed the software for my K-7 on Win Xp media centre Sp3.
It is several months ago but I think my problem was that the computer also had Pentax Photo browser 3 from my previous camera and this was causing some conflict. I uninstalled Photo Browser 3, Photo Lab 3 and the the new software then following a reset reinstalled the K-7 software and it all came good.
I guess it is possible that you are having a similar clash with the software for your Optios5i.
Also note that since I got my K-7 that the Pentax Digital Camera utility has been upgraded to V4.11 and can be downloaded here

Removed the sotware from the computer & re-loaded it.
NO DIFFERENCE!
Anyone advise a fix please? Is it me, the computer, the software?
(ACDSEE which came with my optios5i sill works)
