Pentax DFA 100MM macro

Does this lens appear to zoom whilst adjusting the focus. I mean when it focuses real close does this appear to crop the image a tiny bit.Perhaps due to the front element moving so far forward.I have never noticed this before on other primes,but this is the first time I have used a proper macro lens.I have just picked this up from Currys and was going to put it straight on Ebay but thought I would have a little play first, just want to check all is well before passing it on, if I decide not to keep it.

Many lenses change focal length slightly depending on the focus distance. It isn't really a problem.

If you have an issue with the lens, can you post some pictures to show us what is wrong?

It is not that I have an issue as such. It is just that I had not noticed the effect before and that the box is a little less than perfect. I think I am worrying a little too much. It is also a little noisy when rotating the focus ring. It seems to work by drag,you can keep rotating the focus ring forever at either end of the range,perhaps a property of the quickshift.I am sure if I was not considering selling on, none of this would have concerned me.

The focus ring does continue to move past the end stops, it's normal. If the lens performs well, I wouldn't worry too much. A lot of the boxes that came with the Curry's offer were a bit battered, if indeed that's where it came from!

This lens does does feel a bit clunky, but it produces beautiful pictures.

These reviews might persuade you to keep it mm. I think I might nip down to Currys tomorrow. What are they asking for them?

You will be very lucky to find the Currys/Dixons/PC World offer now as the web offers have finished.

I know what you mean about it feeling a bit strange, especially the focus ring continuing to move after the end stops. When I got mine I thought it was broken but after being reassured by the chaps here that it was supposed to be like that I got on and used it.

That's the best thing to do is get out and use it, you won't want to get rid of it then!

Must be one of my most used lenses and would probably be one of the last to go, if I had to sell up my kit.

By the way I've had mine about 18 months and it came from PC world/Currys on a previous offer.

Blincodave, if you can find one they will cost £250. They are very rare now though. I saw this after looking for weeks and picked it up as I thought I could make a little profit to go towards a 12-24.Good luck in your search.

Predictably, nothing in my local store. I notice somebody has 4 on E Bay at the moment at £345. I wonder where they came from!?
