Pentax DA18-250

Just picked up a DA 18-250 second hand from SRS as I was quite keen on a travel lens for later this year and also one that I could take out on my dog walks when I just wanted something I could put in a wee waist bag and forget about. Not disappointed thus far. Taken it out twice - up Great Mell Fell last night scouting out locations for dead tree shots. Blowing a gale so not sure if sharpness would be improved by calmer conditions. Not a lens I will take for any preplanned shots but should be great for a cross Europe tour later in the summer.

Nice pics...I was looking around for this lens on ebay etc. but could never find one. Would you say it is a good alternative to the Pentax 18-135?

I just sold the Tamron version on here earlier this week - it's identical to the Pentax and usually cheaper to buy so worth considering.

Recent reviews of the Da 18-135 haven't been too positive whilst the 18-250 ones certainly are so it sounds as though it is a fair alternative

Great shots BTW Mark - terrific lighting!!

He's a great lad - he was a bit quizzical looking at me trying to balance on a ledge to see if there was a decent dawn shot off the front of Heron Pike.

I am considering selling my Pentax 18-250 if anybody is interested.

Boxed, complete, unmarked, hoya filter fitted from new.

Has served me well but just does not see any use these days.

Last one to go on ebay fetched 398 and the only one on there now is 375 (unboxed)

I am open to being convinced to part with it for the right price

pm if interested

I actually paid 249.99 for mine from SRS - in immaculate condition with all the bits so Ebay seems a tad high to be honest.

Blowing a gale Gareth and could barely stand up. Sharpest was the top one and for some reason I softened it.

Probably a better reflection of the lens, although to be honest it was more of a trial run to test what it was like.

Nice light in the first set, and the colours seem great. Nice shot of your dog too.
