Here are some samples of the DA18-135, DA17-70 and DA18-250. I took them in the late afternoon in my garden. They are all at the wide end around 18mm. If the weather is ok tomorrow I will take a few at 70mm and add them.

The 17-70 is only 1600×1066 pixels – 465KB, the others are larger.

I have taken on board the comments and I have now uploaded a new set of photos using all three lenses and at comparable focal lengths. They are all at ISO100. They are all JPGs **** quality and uploaded full size (thank you BT Infinity). Pixel peepers can download the full size images.

The images were all taken today using a tripod and mirror lock up. One thing I found is that it is surprisingly difficult to set a zoom to a specific intermediate focal length, the markings on the focus ring are a rather rough and ready guide so there are some approximations.

Thank you again Archie. I am even more impressed with the 18-135 now.

Hopefully the price will drop a bit more so I can add it rather than replace something with it.

Gwyn,
I do find that the DA18-135 is now my standard lens. It also has the advantage of being a bit smaller and lighter than the others.

The DA17-70 at 70cms looks well OOF !? Any reason for that ?

Not sure why. They were all taken with centre point AF and on checking with Photome the point of focus appears to be on the ivy on the extension at the back of the house. I will have to check again and maybe reshoot this one.

The DA 17-70 performs well on checking with a focus chart but of course that is at relatively short distances.

Why have they made the bottom of the lens look very cheap?
The green line has gone and so has the silver nameplate.
They haven't even kept the redline?

But the 35/2.4 is a budget lens
I like the blue ring on the Samsung lenses as well

They have moved the green ring to the front of the lens and the quick focus ring is close to the mount. There is a red seal on the mount.

Thanks for that. At least it retains what had become a sort of Pentax branding even though it will be hidden by the hood.

I was looking at some lenses in a Camera Shop window last week and thought all the others (Nikon etc.) looked a bit unfinished compared to the Pentax ones on display.
