Before you say they SDM is dead, have you tried "waking up" the SDM by connecting it to the camera and manually moving the focus ring back and forth?

A better way to try and wake it up is by operating the screwdrive mech.

Yes tried that on my K3ii body, alas to no avail. Even removed battery, re-inserted with lens attached etc switched it on and off, typical IT helpdesk question, but nowt.
Manual is a dream though 😉
All the best

When the first one failed, I found I could wake it up by using it a few times on the istD. When the second motor failed and I didn't have the D available, by using a jewellers screwdriver to turn the drive on the back of the lens. Only works for a short while before it fails completely which does seem to happen more often when the lens hasn't been used for a while. Decided not to pay around £100 for another motor the second time (even the so called "improved" motors) and have now done the screwdrive mode. I actually find it better using the screwdrive on the K3.

Both my 17-70 and the50-135 both took a long while to re-awaken after a period of idleness

DA* 16-50, now fully operational. Turns out if I switched it to live view the SDM woke up, Now works perfectly fine. Coupled to my K1 lens is a cracking piece of kit, but not being used so it's up for grabs.
Offers now at the asking price or above, ideally looking to get £250.00 if possible.

Optically the lens is flawless, there is no gritty feel in the focus ring, and it has always been covered with a 77mm Kenko Pro UV filter.
I am unsure really of a specific price for this lens in it's current condition, but apart from the SDM there's nothing wrong, it has both caps, lens hood and soft pouch, along with the box. I think that fair price would be around the £200.00 area based on google research, (Although I am open to sensible offers )
Preferably post in the UK, but will ship to the EU, however, please contact me to discuss postage for this , as with most sellers, I will accept PayPal (gift) but a bank transfer would be better or cash on collection. I am located in Birmingham, UK about 5 minutes from Birmingham Airport.
