Nice of them to reward the early adopters like that. Not .
It was mentioned before - a French site put it online before they were supposed to.

I'll wait a bit longer then.
A K5 for €969 sounds pretty good
Maybe if you contact Pentax maybe they will try something for you
Don't contact the Beukelaar though, they never have been very helpful

Didn't you get an early adopters price from SRS anyway?
It was a little bit less than the advertised price.Didn't you get an early adopters price from SRS anyway?
But others will have bought from SRS and other shops at a higher price and won't get the cash back. It doesn't seem fair for them.

I bought my last camera (with grip) three days before they started offering a free grip! I could have saved £250! (Have to mention that it wasn't Pentax).

Their delay to fill shelves with their shiny new lollies in most regions of the planet has also been indicative.

I thought it was more than the cashback deal now?Mike-P wrote:

Anyway, Pentax have done it for the last couple of years and it was hinted at on this thread. Annoying for those that paid full price but people will always get caught out with cashback offers no matter how long they do/don't wait.

I'm not arguing about what price I paid, it makes no difference how much you pay for the camera you are still entitled to the cashback whether you pay 800 or 1500 pounds for it.
Since they only got the camera on the shelves a week or so ago they could back date the cash back to include those who got it first. A reward for brand loyalty would be nice. And it is those loyal to Pentax who jump first, not those changing brands.
Just a tad annoyed that's all. Would have been nice. C'est la vie.

Irony is that there's a lot of truth in that. The old adage that patience is rewarded comes to mind, or as some like to put it, they who are able to manage their addictions will always get the rewards they deserve in the long run.Smeggypants wrote:

No, just waiting for the cashback Are those of us who will buy another pentax body, but not so quickly, less loyal then?
I still give all due cred to early adopters though. They are our test pilots who prove whether parachutes work or don't!

It has to weighed up as a balance. The early adopter has weeks or months of use before the patient waiter even gets the product - how much is that time of enjoyment worth?
I bought my I-10 months ago at a much higher price than now, but it doesn't worry me. I needed it months ago, not now.

I never understood consumers that line up and even sleep in line just to be first for the new item.Mike-P wrote:

I do understand the desire to get a new item that you want or need.
It is hard to be patient, but being first to buy also means being first to find the first run production errors.... first to find bugs and gllitches..... and first to find out if the initial asking price is off base compared to the market.
Sad but true, you pay extra to be the beta tester on all fronts.
It is easier to lower the price of a product after it hits the market, than to release it at one price, then realize you could've charged more... seldom does a product get so much demand that a manufacturer might be tempted to raise prices after launch, and when it does happen, the public usually cries "foul" and "Price gouging".
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.
