Pentax camera prices

Pentax K-5 695 Gbp

Nikon D7000 949 Gbp

I see many people happy that prices drop, as we can buy a great camera at a great price.

But IMO this is jut sad. Discounting ruins a brand.

D7k was and still is in short supply so the price has shot up. I bought mine last year for £650 refurbished... So after nearly 2 years on the market the price of the K-5 is about right as opposed to low.

Pentax only have the Kr & K-5 at the moment, Nikon and Canon have 3 or 4 cameras each between the two price points. If someone new to the DSLR game has 600GBP ish to spend, Pentax need something to tempt them if they want to get them into the system. Ultimately they also need a 135 frame offering too, then we'll have the option of using the FA Limited lenses properly.
