Pentax AF280T problem; condenser charge but no ready lamp

First question - does it actually flash? You might just have a faulty ready light and listening to the "winding" noise should tell you when it's ready to go.
Secondly, does the MX give a ready signal in the viewfinder when used with the AF280T (like the LX does)?
Just a thought.

Hi,
I haven't come across this problem but I have come across others on the same gun. I can point you toward the Pentax repair manual if you need it.

Hi,
Repair manual available here from my website http://pentax-manuals.com/manuals/service/servicemanuals.htm
Remember there are high voltages generated in a flashgun so you need to be very careful.
Regards
Kim
