Pentax-A 50mm f2.8 macro

I've recently aquired one of these for use on a DS, with the object of using it for flower photography and occasional architectural detail closeups, where a max 1:2 magnification should be sufficient. I'd be interested in hearing about experience with the lens. I'll be comparing it to a standard Pentax-A 50mm f1.4 used on a Teleplus 2x macroconverter (I believe eguivalent to a 100mm f2.8 with a max 1:1 magnification or 150mm on the DS taking into account the crop factor), which I thought might make a useful travel combination.

Not that it makes much difference. Macro is mostly manual focus anyway. I'm not sure what the added mag factor is (1.5 times?) but it works in your favour. I use it for flower shots and even as a decent standard lens when I travel because it's small and light. I'll leave my 85/1.4 at home if I have to, but not the 50/2.8.

I also do copy work transferring my old negs and slides to RAW, and the flat field is essential. My repros look better than the originals IMHO.
