If the K5IIs also had the IR filter removed, that would have been a very tempting upgrade from the K5

I know John, but that's an extra £250 minimum. My thinking was as they are customising the internal filter set up in any case, then maybe it could have been the same price

It's a good thought Alan.

I know Fuji market(ed) IR versions of their DSLR and top bridge cameras, so presumably there is a demand out there. Interestingly, they were only available direct from Fuji after filling out a form that showed we agreed not to use the cameras for nefarious purposes...

Announced by Ricoh not Pentax so it's a specialist camera,
possibly to be sold alongside the FA lenses and cameras
that they already do.

Believe the Sony F717 had to have night shot mode partially crippled to prevent people taking IR photos in which some types of clothing became transparent.
