Pentax 60-250 Problem

Hi all,

I purchased a Pentax 60-250 lens brand new 3 weeks ago. The night I bought it I took some photos to check that everything was working fine.
Ive gone to use it for the first time since the night I bought it and it wont focus.

The manual focus still seems to work, but nothing happens when trying to auto focus, changing from AF to MF on the lens does nothing, as does APC APS or MF on the camera. Im using this lens with a K20D and all of my other lenses are working fine.

Please advise what this might be?

Thanks

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the lens and the camera? That would be my first step. The 60-250 has SDM focussing I think so those contacts should be included. Also, make sure you have the latest firmware in the camera perhaps. I used to have a K10d and that required a certain update to the firmware before SDM/HSM could be used - not sure whether the same is/was true of the K20d (I am sure others here will know more than I do about this).

Hope that helps

K20D could use SDM lenses out of the box.

Do you have any other SDM lenses? if they work ok then it sounds like a faulty lens but give the contacts on the 60-250mm a quick clean first.
