The lens is very decent just wait a month and you can get the weather sealed version.
you do have a Tamron 70-300 I see, wont know if it's worth it though. It's pretty much the same but there are less aberration with the DA 50-200.
In the end it might be a better idea to sell the tamron and lay a bit more money with that and get a DA 55-300, the most loved lens in that range.

Thanks for that Stefan. E-Bay has shed loads of Tamron 70-300s presently so I doubt I would get very much for it. Infact, I only paid £60 for it including delivery. I also like having the extra reach of the Tamron. I note your comments on the 55-300!
Any other observations on the 50-200?

I've been considering this lens for a while as an inconspicuous zoom for candid photography round town.
The length probably isn't enough for wildlife and the like, but I like candids.
For range, I am using a Pentax smc FA 100-300mm f/4.7-5.8, butwith it being silver, it stands out in a busy street for candids.
Might even consider the weather sealed version.

£99 will be a good buy ... Useful to have as a general purpose zoom. Occasionally I use mine in place of the DA* 50-135 when I need that little extra.

Thanks to Loskeran who kindly sold me his mint 50-200, I will be able to answer my own question! Initial impressions are encouraging. Cheers for the replies.

Its a really good lens and not much bigger than the 18-55 and a real bargain at £99, I paid £186 for mine.

And some of the lucky ones here paid just £49 or slightly less!

The DA 50/200 is an excellent lens taking into account the price.
