I have a Sigma 105mm f2.8 and a Pentax 50-200mm f4-5.6 & I want to upgrade but can't decide between the Pentax 50-135mm f2.8 or the Tamron 70-200mm f2.8, I'll be using it most for portrait, wedding and street photography. I am particularly looking for sharpness between the two lenses.

I would appreciate your opinions.

Thanks

Bob

50-135mm all day long for the work you've mentioned, I own both and both are superb but I use the Tamron for sports due to its longer reach and better AF,

The 50-135mm is better optically not by a long way but it is sharper, but the AF drags its heels sometimes, but for weddings and portraits it's lovely.

What about the 55mm f1.4 this seems an almost perfect lens for your intended needs, I've never had one, but not many people speak badly about it?

If the Sigma 50-150 f2.8 in the classified ads here is still going, you could also consider that. Sharp and a compact lens with HSM (works well on my K5 and K3)

Thanks, that has been very helpful. I'm going to be saving for the 50-135.

Thanks again, much appreciated
