Hi everyone,

I have just had stock of the 17-70/4 SDM lens. Anyone who has preordered will be getting a call from me over the course of the day.

I have a few available from stock if anyone is interested (free postage of course) and of course if anyone local fancies a test session please feel free to come down.

Also please can you put your Pentaxuser ID in the other instructions box when placing an order, as this will ensure the postage is not charged.

If anyone has anything to ask, then ask away!

Thanks,

Chris

Do you know why it's so expensive?

It is a very well made lens - a much higher build quality than the 16-45 which it is replacing. The RRP of the 17-70 is only £50 more than the 16-45, it's just that the 16-45 'street' price has tumbled as it has got closer to being replaced.

Come down and have a look - you can get an picture of me with it, unlike that one you took last time of my less attractive brother(!)

Hi John,

The price is £375.

I saw that you were having issues with your *ist DS and certain lenses. I have a used DS in stock if you want to come down and try those lenses on another body.

Chris,
I've seen a few threads on the 'net that claim this lens is weather sealed.
I presume it's not, but does have the SP front element coating.
Am I right?
Thanks! Matt

Dear Chris, thanks for the offer, not a bad idea. I'm going on holiday for a few weeks, if you still have one left then I might come over, cheers.

The lens is not weather sealed but does have the SP front element coating. I am having a spec sheet emailed to me as we speak, if anyone wants a copy just ask.

I might be down quite soon... the 55-300 is what I'm after at the moment.

How are your stock levels with that?

Stocks are a problem with this lens at the moment...

I have one in stock as I am typing this - they are in very short supply but I tend to get 6-10 a week although these are quite often pre-sold. Let me know when you want me to reserve one.

How is that even possible? The DA16-45 is a pro quality lens in all ways. By saying this you are saying that the new lens is built like what? A Limited?
